We were thrilled with the results of a two-year longitudinal study of the efficacy of ABCmouse. The study examined the academic impact of the integration of our ABCmouse Early Learning Academy into prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. An article about the study was recently published in the Journal of Applied Research on Children.
The study found that students who completed more ABCmouse learning activities during the prekindergarten year scored higher on an assessment of kindergarten readiness skills than those who completed fewer activities. Results also showed that ABCmouse contributed to accelerated gains in literacy and math across several assessments throughout the kindergarten year. ABCmouse also appeared to help students who entered kindergarten less prepared catch up to their peers. Increased usage correlated with positive academic outcomes: the more students used ABCmouse, the more likely they were to make gains in math and literacy skills.
3 Key Findings of the Study
- Kindergarten readiness: Greater usage of ABCmouse (more learning activities completed) resulted in higher kindergarten readiness scores at the end of pre-k.
- Accelerated learning in kindergarten: Regular ABCmouse usage in kindergarten helped to accelerate students’ learning gains in literacy and mathematics skills on multiple assessments.
- Learning activities: The number of ABCmouse learning activities completed was a strong predictor of literacy and math outcomes at the end of kindergarten.
Because the transition from 2nd to 3rd grade is such a critical time in a child’s educational journey, I am especially excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive 2nd grade curriculum to expand our award–winning ABCmouse.com Early Learning Academy for children ages 2–8. The expanded curriculum on ABCmouse is designed to address the learning needs and interests of 2nd grade students with the goal of preparing them for the transition to 3rd grade.
I’m pleased to announce a significant milestone for Age of Learning and our ABCmouse.com® Early Learning Academy: 2,000,000,000 ABCmouse learning activities have been completed by young children. Pretty amazing–two BILLION.
That’s an average of almost 200 learning activities each for the more than 10 million children who have enjoyed and learned from ABCmouse since it launched in November 2010.
I am also confident that these are more than just big numbers.
Research shows that the more ABCmouse learning activities children complete, the greater the educational impact. That’s because every learning activity is designed to achieve specific curriculum objectives that contribute to a strong academic foundation for every child.

As I’ve done for several months, I’d like to share some recent feedback we’ve received from parents and teachers who have been using our ABCmouse Early Learning Academy at home or in the classroom. We’ve been thrilled to hear about so many success stories.
My husband and I signed our 5- and 6-year-olds up for ABCmouse right before they entered kindergarten. We immediately saw changes in their attitudes toward learning. Within their first semester, our girls both received several awards, including Honor Roll, Student of the Month, and writing awards. By the end of the year, they had received 12 awards between them. We are so very grateful. Thank you, ABCmouse—please continue the amazing work!

I really like the lessons and the activities and the fact that you can send parents information about what their children are working on. I am really excited about having this new program in my classrooms, and I look forward to using it this school year.
—Teacher in Chattanooga, TN
My daughter has been so excited to actually get on the computer and learn. She calls me over each time she moves to another area and loves learning about the animals and surroundings. The website is super user-friendly and I love the layout. The parent page allows me to track her progress and see what areas are her strengths. WE LOVE ABCMOUSE!!
—Mother of a 4-year-old girl
Thank you so much for the 5 years of great education you provided to both my son and daughter … who read and perform math above their peers. Our children have excelled because of the educational platform you have provided—and we sincerely thank you.
—Mother of 8- and 6-year-olds in Scranton, PA
My son has absolutely fallen in love the site and is always asking to ‘do ABCmouse.’ He enjoys learning about different things and his counting ability has improved to the point that he can count up to five of his trucks without mistakes.
—Mother of a 2-year-old boy in Amarillo, TX
My child has been using this program since he was about 2. At that age, we would sit and watch the videos together and go through the different courses. By 3, he was using the mouse by himself and completing lessons all on his own. Now he asks to play ABCmouse all the time. He especially loves the lessons on fish!
—Mother of a 4-year-old boy in Norfolk, VA
I love that my son who is 2 actually asks to play ‘MOUSE! MOUSE!’ We have so much fun together. It’s not just a great learning experience for him but a chance for this full-time working mom to bond with him!! Thank you, ABCmouse!!
